Summer Break is over... the Blog is Back

This has been a difficult summer for us, so we, unfortunately, had to take a few months off from the blogging. As most of you know, we lost "PawPaw" in August and miss him everyday. We have also begun construction (again) on our house in "The Highlands at Trophy Club." We stayed busy traveling to the beach, San Antonio, Lake Charles, etc. and had lots of company - which we love! Summer just flew by before we had a chance to notice...

So, here is the latest update (which is the main reason for this blog, and I know most of you look forward to it) - Jackson turned 16 months old on Sept. 2nd and is a ball of energy. I type this while watching him run up and down the stairs. He gets to the top and throws things down at the dogs and me on the couch. He is saying a ton of words including dog, cat, shoe, backpack, map, peekaboo, and "ta ta baby" (his Mimi taught him that one) among many others. He has begun repeating a lot so we have to be careful with what we say. He is also learning "1, 2, 3" but usually only says "3" - and he does know to jump on three. He will rummage in the pantry until he finds his goldfish then bring them to me to open. He loves goldfish! He is still pretty skinny but looks and acts very healthy. His color is good and he eats pretty good (just not very much) - but that little boy is a poopoo factory. He must go atleast three times a day. I wish I had that kind of metabolism! He has the longest little feet and toes and is already wearing a size 6. Mimi and PawPaw even bought him some cowboy boots - which he LOVES!! I've posted the pictures of him in the boots on my facebook account - they're too adorable. I guess he's a real Texan now...

He LOVES reading books and will bring them to me all day long to read to him. In fact, we are planning to visit the library today to check out some more. His very favorite book is "Giraffes Can't Dance" by Giles Adreae and his second favorite is "Puppies Are Like That" which has two dachshunds in it and he loves pointing to the one that looks like Maggie then points at her. He is also great at saying "Hi" and "Bye Bye" - he will hold up the phone and say "Hi!" Another favorite activity is looking at pictures. He especially loves the pictures of his daddy and even if there are other people in the picture (including his Mama, I might add) he will only point at David and say "Dada." I ask him who I am and he will look at me then point at David and say, "Dada." I can't believe it!

He is such a big boy and every day is an adventure - sometimes a very tiring one... but he does give me the best hugs and kisses. We send our love to everyone and hope you will stay tuned - we will be updating the blog again on a regular basis.
